Christmas tree hasn't any fully established roots yet so it blows ut of pot. It is tied to a stake but far too windy. Any one any ideas??
Have just been out - please excuse windswept appearance- and put a series of canes around pot - not in it- and wrapped string round and around and around. It was the tree going over not the pot. Will see if that makes a difference
Still blowing hard out there, but slightly less than this morning perhaps? The greenhouse roof panel did slip down, but has now wedged itself in the guttering rim, so less likely to actually flip out. Will sort out over vw/end, when less windy, I hope.
Intermittent sunshine, but quite a lot of dark clouds around too. About 8-9C outside at the mo. J.
Rosa Carriola, how about 'guy ropes' as on a tent; attach several to tree and then attach to rim of pot It is very blowy in the Fens, hope it dies down soon.
2 1/2 hours later and tree is still up right - Hooray
That's good Bjay. Fingers crossed it stays that way.
I ended up blocking the wormery cover with a wheely bin pushed right up to it. The 'lip' of the bin lid being over the piece of polycarbonate panel, that, despite a brick on top of it, was regularly flipping off!
Did I say the wind was less? Noooooo, back again. J.
Been a bright but windy day, quite spring like, plenty of snowdrops now appearing, and some crocus showing colour Days are lengthening, still light at 4.50pm.
Haven't poked my nose outside yet, but a cloudy sky and less wind. Should reach 7c later, so the weather caption says
Worcs - still a slight wind.
Pleased to report that Christmas tree is still standing.
We have sun now but there was rain first thing. Feels quite mild
Stockton has blue sky with sunshine although bitter cold, some cloud keeps drifting over and puts the sun out for a few minutes then up it pops again. Had the sun visor down coming home as it was blinding.Making out order list for GC, potting compost, fine grit, some JI number two which I cut myself for seed compost "oh er" and some seed, do not go mad, (reminder to me).
The predicted rain has arrived!
It was dry, bright & windy earlier, so I did put some washing out- almost dry, before a mad dash to rescue it.
Have been doing a long overdue sort out of 'stuff' in our spare bedroom. A tip visit will be needed, but plan to make a start on the shed tomorrow which will add to the 'tip pile' & make a journey worth while. J.
The Fens. Was working in a house with no heating and found it quite mild. How lovely not to be freezing cold, the sunshine was a real blessing.
Wet and dull again here. Hope it stays fine tomorrow we're going to the Wildlife Park at Ulverston, it's the last free weekend
My shed's also in need of a tidy. Only been in it a few times since October, went in for something at the weekend and stuff is piled to the door. Cardboard boxes for the recycle seem to be taking up most room. Discovered a string of onions in there too
Poured all day, blowing a gale now.
