Yesterday, Thurs. supposedly the first warmer day was freezing! I only lasted in the garden for 10 mins. Today, again brilliant sunshine but still very cold. Am now building a bonfire with dead weed tops etc. The pond is not thawing until mid day.
I buy my JI No 2 seed compost in multiples of threes, £12.00 for 3, I keep an open one in the conservatory to keep it at room temp. for sowing and potting on. I have tried all sorts of different grow bags and cheaper composts but it has ended up a false economy.
Hi all ,another mild sunny day in Drogheda got my fist early's in today Red duke of york, no rain forecast till next week
Lots of white cloud here in the NW, little sun but although it went cool this evening it wasn't as cold as usual.
JD - I'm, beginning to think lots of grow bags is false economy, so am going to opt for a 3 for 2 offer this year, just haven't decided which to get.
Adam- think you should have a lighting up party when the last of the cable is laid.
Stockton on Tees, cool part cloud part sun.Daf's still closed up. Primroses still in full bloom, Pansies undecided and I do not blame them.No snow drops as yet, crocus vanished although we have swathes of them along the roadsides all still got their heads down, the herbs are OK and showing some growth they are sheltered from the wind a wall behind them and a sunny dry spot.Little glimmers of hope and I got three bags of Compost brought to me today £10 for three so not expecting too much but then I mix it.
The sun is out but it is still so cold. Now have a cold/lurgy so staying indoors and kniting and catching up with you lot. Theres always so much going on.
Lovely day here, in the NW.
Aintree in Liverpool was baked in sunshine.
Zoomer, Aintree, are you sure you got the right day, Ladies day was Friday??
Stockton on Tees bright sunshine and WARM? windows open to let cooking smells out and fresh air in, I am in short sleeves again and as you can see I am on this machine between cooking so Gardening this afternoon.
Beautiful sunshine, cool breeze. OH hoping to get a row of potatoes in. He has covered the soil with old perspex roofing sheets, so it has warmed up. Fingers crossed.
We have got the windows open too. Lovely.
Today bright rather than sunny. Frost again first thing & we do actually need sone rain!
Yesterday was sat out on daughter's patio, in Bolton, & now have an interesting stripe across my arm where had pushed my jumper sleeve up! was warmer out thetre than realised.
My gardening is really 'on hold' as have sciatica, still, & an 'unhappy' arm waiting on physio attention. Never mind, lots of seeds up on sills inside & dahlias shooting..... now just some rain pleeze so I can do the mulching, arm/leg permitting. J.
Yesterday the rain started about 4pm, then turned sleety , then snowy. Woke up this morning & there was 2-3" of it, but none on the roads or paths. It's been coming down ever since, but also it's melting. Temp is about 4c & in the shed it's 8c.
Oh well perhaps it was too sunny for too long!!
Debating whether to go for a walk as I've had lunch. That b****y fence is awaiting more paint but not sure I can face it! Feel a bit weary as I spent ages last night setting up new laptop but can't get the photo thingy to work so need to get older daughter to help me later! I knew they'd come in useful some day
Weather here is a bit static and we could do with a bit of rain but a bit of heat too. The rain is uaually accompanied by howling wind at this time of year though
Dry and sunny here all weekend. Cut the back lawn for the first time and pruned the Buddleia at last. Supposed to be cold and windy next week here in Essex, so hope I haven't done any damage. Just had to get out there as I've missed gardening so much this winter!
Lovely day, sunny and warm so cut the grass, put in a few plants, painted garage door and just generally enjoyed being outside, pleasantly pottering.
Warm and sunny today. Did loads in the garden.
Oooh - Frank - Having never been to the races before, it could have been a disaster, I was thinking, jeans, t-shirt and four seasons coat. So pleased after discussion with two older brother's...I bought a new outfit...did my nails and had hair done on Friday....
Had such a good time may do ladies day next year...
Not too bad outside today, as long as you kept moving or out of that East wind!
Aches & pains permitting, I managed to carry all the Hosta pots down to their Summer/Autumn position on the bottom patio. They werent too heavy because of the lack of rain.
The sun tried, but it clouded over by mid afternoon. J.
Stockton Dull and cold.
My last report for a while as laptop on the blink, posting hit and miss.New part ordered although looking at new ones, it is a minefield, too much choice.
May be gone a while Frank.
