This beautifull bright blue butterfly was flying around my allotment today.

it's wings underneath are not so bright but it would not open its wings when it landed which wasn't for long. It was very small not sure if it is a common blue or holly blue.I thought it was stunning i don't get many of them in my area.

That's lovely Aliesh. I haven't seen any blues this year yet.

I think that's a holly blue but am prepared to be corrected

You think right, that's a Holly Blue. This time of year they mostly lay their eggs on holly, but later in the year ( second brood I think) then lay predominately on Ivy.

Always nice to see.
