Dead frogs

Lots of dead frogs appearing in my mothers garden, both in her pond and on the lawn. No marks on them, so haven't been pecked by the birds. Quite strange really. I guess it might be some kind of disease?

No, they look perfectly normal and unmarked. Some were on the lawn by the pond, some were in the pond and bloated.

  • Can't be Rana virus if there are no marks. The Chytrid fungus has hit a few isolated areas of the UK. Whereabouts in the country were they found?

I'm of course excluding the possibility that your mother has used any chemicals in her garden, such as slug pellets or lawn feed? A picture of one of the dead frogs and an idea of their location might help. Are they clustered or spread out? In what proximity to the pond were they found?
