NNot sure what to do. My garden is very damp so Frogs love it. Unfortunately my bengal cat loves Frogs! He won't stop bringing them in the house. He doesn't kill them. Tries to be gentle but he's a cat ....with sharp teeth so injuries do happen.
What can I do to stop this? The poor Frogs are just getting hurt and frankly I hate hate hate them as I'm petrified when they jump. I have a new baby who's going to be crawling soon so frog juice everywhere is not nice.
Should I build them a sanctuary or something in garden...I'm lost

Is your cat bringing them in through the cat flap? If so, the only way is to close the inwards swing on the flap. I had a cat that did the same and brought them in very delicately through the flap. I don't mind frogs, but l used a plastic container (long narrow one) and held it in front of the frog and they usually hopped in then took them back out into the garden.
Yes he brings them through flap. Or door. Or window. Whatever is open. Can't lock him out indefinitely. Had 1 every day for 4 days so far. Last year was horrendous.
And I'm using containers to take them back out into garden but can't be doing this all day and night
I'd have frogs rather than a cat any day.
That's so helpful thank you.
my pleasure.
You asked, I replied.
I think that Liz was asking for help and not your personal feelings about cats Hosta - no call for that.
Liz if you have a cat flap that you can lock, then would it be easy to keep the cat locked in at night to prevent frogs being brought in and during daytimes can you keep the cat outside with the flap locked just long enough for the cat to do what cats need to do so that it can't get bring any in?
I agree ladybird it's not a choice between cats and frogs. I love them both and it's a problem I have with mine. The only thing that keeps the cats away from pond area is a solar fountain as it is fairly erratic so keeps kittycats on their toes! You could try sitting by froggiest area with a water spray? Doesn't hurt cat but may make him reconsider? Good luck!
We have a cat roaming our garden who delighted in almost eliminating our frogs last year - hence no frog spawn this year and just two very old, but rather large frogs that the cat is cautious of. Yes I love frogs and cats and I am not sure how to deter the cat from any further frog offspring either.
Frogs eat slugs, cats kill...... whatever takes their fancy. I don't know why anyone is surprised by this.
