They are eating my rose leaves! Yes for weeks I've wondered what has been eating the leaves

 then I spotted this!

and this one maybe bit of more than he could carry!

 is anyone else experienceing this?

Leaf cutter bees. I found one making a hole in  the soil of a potted datura. Although its getting watered every day it doesn't seem to bother it.

I figure every bee helps at the moment.

Thanks FB I thought it might have been those pesky Vine Weavils. I can live with it now knowing that the bees are happy . I've never seen this before are they making a nest?

Yes they are making a nest. They won't keep attacking your roses, just until the nest is made. Then they will want pollen and nectar.

ha haa the bee hotel was made by my niece at school. I've had it years and never had a bee go in it only lace wings and ladybirds. I have however made a rather bigget one out of one of my willow tree logs. never seen any go in that either come to think of it

I had a swarm of a few hundred honey bees arrive in my acer a couple of days ago. Called out the local beekeeper chap and he had them all in a box within an hr or so. Still feel a bit sad for the 50 or so that are still left waiting to die
