Lignin
A complex polymer that makes up a substantial part of the wood of trees. It's found within the cell walls of woody tissues of mature plants.
Lignotuber
The swollen base of a woody plant, from which sucker shoots arise in the event of top growth being killed or cut down.
Lime
Chemical compound calcium carbonate (symbol CaCO3). The amount of lime in the soil determines whether it's alkaline, neutral or acid.
Liming
The addition of lime to the soil to improve its structure, reduce acidity and remedy calcium deficiency.
