Should I water overwintering pelargoniums?

Kate Bradbury reveals whether to water overwintering pelargoniums, plus tips on getting them through winter.

In the cool of winter, pelargoniums require less water, but not none at all. Kate Bradbury explains how to spot when watering is needed, and the best time of day to do it.

Yes, you should water overwintering pelargoniums, but sparingly. It’s easy to get these plants through the winter, as long as they are kept frost-free, well-ventilated and not quite touching each other. They have succulent stems and only need watering when they begin to show visible signs of wilting. Do so in the morning on a mild day, and make sure the water is able to drain freely from the pot.
