Overview
For a successful summer bedding display, don't bring your plants out of the greenhouse until you know the frosty nights are behind you. And when you do bring them out acclimatise them in the garden before you plant them into their final positions. If you have a cold frame, use this as a halfway house for a couple of weeks.
Do it:
May - June
At its best:
July - August
Takes just:
30 minutes a day
How to do it
-
Bring bedding plants out of the greenhouse, or other warm spot where they have been living, and stand them outside every morning in a bright, sheltered site. Move them back under cover each evening until all threat of frost has passed.
"Once the plants are planted out, keep some fleece handy with which to cover them if frost is suddenly forecast."
