Raised beds and pots

hi greenbucket i would definatly incorperate flowers in with the veg and it wiil also keep the pests down especially marigolds  and you can make it look really pretty try chard as a veg it looks after itself with deep red leaves which taste fantastic dont forget you can put peices of ginger from the supermarket in a pot just cut it up and leave it to grow,

well i do recycle up to a point but the thing is where i live which gives me a rant is that i pass loads of recycling bins outside houses all stacked up it looks a right state especially when the gulls are screeming and diving in the bins which then are all over the road why dont people keep there bins out of sight untill bin day baffles me

hi alan me to, as my allotment is on a hill it was freezing so got some seeweed off the beach run it over to my plot threw it on to dig in later and went home to hot soup.

dont forget that by growing marigolds lavender,and nastutums they will atract many pests that would otherwise nibble your veg,like the old cottage gardeners used to

does anyone remember geoff hamilton,just befor he died i went to see his cottage garden i met his son very nice chap but i was amazed at how small his garden was as it looked huge on tv same with alan tichmarsh so i wonder how big montys garden is,i would love to go and have a good old nosy

hi brian,for me its a bit early im not going to put mine in untill the end of the month then it will be 1st earlies and second earlies leavind mine in the shed in egg boxes

hi greenbucket,well i have been over my allotment today as i have raised beds only six feet wide though so i can get to all the sides,today i put in jerusalem artickokes.onion sets,broad beans,and befor the month is out in will go turnips,parsnips.spring onions and my early potaoes,you can grows all these in a tub,as i have befor,somethimes you have to be patient,all the other veg will go in in april,may time,raised beds are a great idea,try everything greenbucket,but carrots can take a long time,

hi all i just bought two of those 4 tier plastic mini gh thought id have a go at growing my own plants as it cost me a fortune last year so need help,i know what to do with the seeds but do i leave the plastic covers open or shut and does it take a long time for the seeds to germinate help please
