What the heck - my purse isn't big enough - but one can dream

Posted: 17/11/2013 at 23:29

I decided that 2 evergreen hellebores are just not enough I need more. New colours. I have a white and then a variagated version that is pinky. Off to the garden centre.....

i decided to treat myself to a stiff cup of tea when I saw that a 3" potted evergreen hellebore was £5.99!!!!!

i know that they take an age to mature but please I can't afford that!!! Any suggestions for decent sources, or alternative plants with a hellebore size and nature!! I will try and attach pictures of my 2, I'm now rather precious over them as I have seen the price tags!!

i cut off old flowering stems last year as newly planted and was told it would help them take hold. I have NO CLUE how to treat them, when to trim up or what to do, novice.com!!!!!!!!

ADVICE NEEDED...lupins from seed

Posted: 17/11/2013 at 23:22

I have sent mine in pots but they just don't seem to have grown at all. They look so spindly!!! I had the same dilemma so I have sent mine home to my parents. My other plan was to put them In a bread tray and fleece over. What more can you do other than find a sheltered spot where your less likeky to get frost and snow sitting on them.

I'm beginning to regret not direct sowing. I sowed in seed trays and transplanted. I was v careful not to break the roots but I'm wondering why so spindly. They were potted up in about sept!

Monty D's always seem to grow and be a show I hope mine don't die off. Just waiting for the dahlias to need lifting, will then set the allium and hyacinth .

Evening all

i have some purple sensation allium. Some that are half purple half green and some hiacynth bulbs.

my question is, how deep can I plant them. I would like to leave them in but worry I may dislodge or dig up when putting bedding in.

9ft square and 30" tall. Please I know that's way too tall but I wanted on on some concrete at the back of my house and my partner said he would do it for my birthday, low and behold....

i said why so tall, he said because I will need depth for root veg. No idea how big the carrots were when he grew up!!
