I have but found that the glove part didn't lend itself to being able to get hold of finer material, gauntlets were great at covering arms but out weighed by gloves that were too thick - I put a jacket on to cover arms and take it off when i've finished if weather is warm.

Hi Bill

Personally i'd go for the Rosa arvensis and Rambling Rosie as they get to a similar height plus you get the combination of red and white plus yellow although Rosa arvensis doesn't repeat flower.  Or Super Elfin and Laura Ford for repeat flowering.  Decisions decisions

To be honest when I first saw it I thought of Jasminum beesianum or stephanense but don't think they are evergreen...

I wondered that as well ThaiGer, maybe the new young leaves are more shiny and they lose the shine as they get older?
