Lesley, I am thinking about chopping into to lawn along from my arch to 'split' the grass up a bit . But then my border won't flow down. . . .

HELLO FORKERS!

It is a problem I often have Lesley  One of the joys of having a long newish garden (which I do have btw) (well new to me) is that  I can create flowerbeds/borders and plant the newbies  To explain, when I bought the house there were two flower beds and no borders. I have so far created two borders (one a little skinny) and enlarged the existing beds. One of the borders only goes half way up (to a bed) so loads more room that I can monopolise for plants  It is just a shame that it is soooo much hard work to create a border from grass  Need to borrow an under gardener!

Hanging Baskets

What type of baskets do you have? Can you take them off the hooks and stand them in water for a bit? This would only work if the basket is penetrable of course. If you can make a hole down to the bottom with a tube this is a good way to get moisture down too

Sorry I missed that Pa has another chest infection Dove  ((hugs)) for you and (hugs) - more gentle! - for Pa

KEF, gosh they are pricey! I'll tell my friend, she though £8.99 was expensive! Was part of a buy two get third free deal, and was the third plant so was free

Not sure where Astilbe is going to go - total impulse purchase! Will have to consider which part of my garden I think is shaded enough . . . not much at the mo.

Rebecca. That will be the Ipomoea. I thought it would make a lovely alternative to the staple Heuchera. Little did I realise it would only be around for a year  No indication on the label either! It is pretty though! I might be able to take cuttings but not sure if they would overwinter. Some research is needed I think! This is what happens when I buy things coz I like 'em!!

I do indeed have an Astilbe KEF

Plants in order:

Top row: Astilbe: Hebe 'Rhubarb and Custard': Heucherella 'Tapestry'

Middle row: Ipomoea (didn't realise was an annual): Heuchera 'Ginger Ale'

Next row: Nasturtiums

Bottom row: two Patio mix variety packs - Traditional mix and Sunshine Yellow for my pots
