Viola and pansy seeds

Posted: 15/10/2013 at 20:59

Don't know if this will help but a few years ago I started some viola and pansy seeds from a kit and had to leave them cold and covered for a while until growth started, then babied them on the windowsill.  I know some seeds have to have a period of cold before they are planted so you might try putting seeds in fridge for a couple of days to shock them, then keep them in a cool dark area until you notice growth starting.  Its a while ago now but I am sure thats how I did it and had a good display that summer.

I bought my first ever orchid about five or six months ago and it has done really well with repeat flowerings -  so well in fact it now resembles a weeping willow in shape!

I need to prune it when it stops flowering, but am unsure where to make the cuts.  Any advice please?

You lucky devil - I had a beautiful hedgehog a few years ago but when they renovated the flats I think the disturbance made him decide neighbours too noisy, no sign of any since .  Have tried putting hidy holes in the garden and leaving lots of areas of foliage where worms etc live but guess we just annoyed him too much!
