first time tomato grower seeks advice

How often would you water tomatoes in pots? Mine are in 25 litre containers but I've been very wary of over-watering. Possibly too much so! I've only been watering them every few days?

When you do water make sure you water enough. Water til the water runs through the bottom and then again so compost completely wet then walk away for a few days til dry again. It is pointless watering little and often as it will not reach the roots.

And as Verdun said...learn about the best plants for the conditions you have. So pointless trying to grow something where it doesn't want to be. If push comes to shove and you just have to have it....stick it in a pot!

Know your allies.

Learn how to identify all the good bugs in your garden. Ladybirds and larvae, lacewings and larvae, hoverflies and larvae, predatory wasps and midges and larvae....always take the time to learn what the larvae look like because some look like little caterpillars and can easily be mistaken for enemies.....spiders, birds, the little red spiders you see racing round when its hot...they eat spider mite.  Soldier bug, syrphid fly.

Slow worms, frogs, toads hedgehogs, newts, ground beetles, ...ok I know don't eat aphids....

There are so many good guys out there and they will come when needed  unless you start using the poisons!

Cabbagey Plant ID pls?

But Welsh they grow enormous! If Bazwah lets it grow he/she will have no garden left and the suckers will come up all over the place not just in the lawn. Fought two of these for ten years lol.

Would have thought division would be pretty simple to do. Afterall it is just a clover. Wait til the autumn dig it up and split it into as many pieces as you want...live anywhere near hampshire lol
