MORNING FORKERS

Posted: 18/07/2013 at 16:02

Hi all  Just finished 6 hours of gardening in this heat!!!!! About ready to melt but great to be back out there.

Try so hard to keep up with this thread but find it impossible so started at the beginning and am slowly reading thru all the posts. Very entertaining

Rat-tailed maggots

So glad you posted this.  I keep plants in containers of water that I am moving between gardens. Saw these maggots this morning in one of them and had no idea what they were. Do now  and good guys too by the description of them.

Lovely pics everyone  Kef the pink thing is some sort of spirea....I think...never bothered to look it up just pulled it all out. It suckers all over the place so don't know if you want to keep it.

Going off topic a bit here but just looked through you posts. Have you posted a picture of your garden before? I found a few pictures of the things you grow but not the whole area. Would love to see it.

MrsGarden just love that planter with nasturtiums and Nicotiana. I grew some climbing ones one year. Went away for two weeks and came back to string vests  Cabbage white caterpillars all over it. Never bothered again but might now I've seen yours

Birdy you can do most anything to Alchemilla and it won't mind. Cut off all the flower heads now if you want....look wonderful in a vase...it will probably put up more but if not it won't do it any harm.

Yellow leaves - help!!

You are welcome  Fireblight on leaves looks just like it sounds....like someone has waved a blow torch over the leaves and they go brown and crispy. Definitely not yellow!

Don't know hoping someone will answer you though because I have one in one of my gardens that doesn't seem to do much. Would like to know why too.
