MrsGarden just love that planter with nasturtiums and Nicotiana. I grew some climbing ones one year. Went away for two weeks and came back to string vests  Cabbage white caterpillars all over it. Never bothered again but might now I've seen yours

Birdy you can do most anything to Alchemilla and it won't mind. Cut off all the flower heads now if you want....look wonderful in a will probably put up more but if not it won't do it any harm.

Yellow leaves - help!!

You are welcome  Fireblight on leaves looks just like it someone has waved a blow torch over the leaves and they go brown and crispy. Definitely not yellow!

Don't know hoping someone will answer you though because I have one in one of my gardens that doesn't seem to do much. Would like to know why too.

Variegated Foxglove?

Posted: 16/07/2013 at 22:07

“Sports”, breaks or chimeras can arrive by freaks of nature. A mutation occurs causing a random change in the plants’ chromosomes brought about by insect damage, the weather or other factors. If you see a different flower, habit or leaf you can email the RHS ( – they will put you in touch with nurseries looking for new plants.

Copied that for you  get in touch and see what they say.

Yellow leaves - help!!

Just the centre of the tree? A particular stem? New growth old growth? Any sign of damage to branches affected? Any sign of fungus at base? Sorbus are prone to fireblight but not much else. Your photo is not fireblight. Any chance of a picture of the whole tree?

Help me save this Pieris (well i think its a Pieris)!

Definitely Pieris. Very sickly   As fairygirl says needs shade asap. Cut to that red growth on that stem and if nothing growing on any other stems cut to the last leaf on the branch. Feed and water. Then cross your fingers and hope for the best. If new growth does start to appear then cut to that. Cut nothing after end of August or will be too soft for winter. Good luck

How often would you water tomatoes in pots? Mine are in 25 litre containers but I've been very wary of over-watering. Possibly too much so! I've only been watering them every few days?

When you do water make sure you water enough. Water til the water runs through the bottom and then again so compost completely wet then walk away for a few days til dry again. It is pointless watering little and often as it will not reach the roots.
