Helping Solitary Bees - will they all nest in flower pots?

Posted: 24/07/2015 at 21:35

Some of my tubes in my bee house have sealed ends but what happens next? Should I put it in the shed in the winter, then do I buy/make new tubes  for next year?

Thanks for any info

Growing veg with little space

I've been successful growing salad leaves in biscuit /sweet tins. I just make holes in the bottom (hammer and a nail) and kept high up avoids being nibbled by slugs

Impulse bought 2 lots of seed potatoes (buy 1 get 1 half-price!) 1 pack of early -Pentland Javelin and 1 pack of lates-Golden Wonder. Just reading the instructions I find the planting time is March and harvest time is June for both types. If this is correct how can they be early/late??

Ok, thanks, I have use of a wheely bin provided by the council for garden/food waste which is still collected through the winter, but I'll continue to fill my compost bin.

Hi, had my first compost bin this spring, and have put 1st lot of compost onto garden. Should I still put stuff into the bin during the freezing weather when it's obviously too cold for it to rot down or start again next spring? I have pet rabbits so have plenty of droppings/straw/shavings to get rid of.

We had rats under an old shed, we 'flushed' them out by putting hose down hole, they haven't come back 2 yrs later and no harm to the dog.

Wonderful thanks both. (seed packet says April/May so thought it would be too late.)

I'm fairly new to gardening and follow seed packs exactly, but all the rain seems to have washed my parsnips and broccoli away. Is it too late to re sew?
