Hi All...I'm back. Bought a load of bedding plants yesterday. I sowed hardy annual seeds but they are taking forever to appear and I was desperate for a bit of colour.

any tips on planting bedding in a border? Salvia and marigolds. Predictable I know but they were cheap and so cheery! Do I just bodge them in? What time of day is best?

Invasion!!!! Already frustrated!!!!

Went on holiday last week and on my return my lovely cabbage plants have been reduced to skeletal stalks! An old man at the GC says he swears by bird cage gravel. Organic (I have toddlers) and very sharp. Have put some around my spinach today. Fingers crossed.

Carrots are a mystery to me. Monty made it look so simple on GW!

no gardening today sadly. Got my lawn mowed yesterday in the driving rain. Lawn mower was steaming! Then we had hail the size of marbles later on. Off on holiday tomorrow so a car full of toddler supplies to pack.

happy gardening everyone!

That's interesting Artjak because I read somewhere else on here that's someone sowed their carrot seeds then covered them with a plank of wood until they appeared. It worked because it kept them damp but I suppose also warm insulated by the wood. Oh well too late now for me. They will either grow or they won't!

So glad I'm not alone with the invisible carrots

Hi FG. No idea what's going wrong with the carrots. I'm sowing them into great soil, fine tilth, no stones etc and then keeping them moist but nothing ever appears! Have gone for a short rooted Rando this time as easier to grow but...nada

Hi All. FG my hubby has taken himself off his BP pills rather worryingly but has lost a ton of weight and been going to the gym. He monitors it himself and it is back to normal.

Just debating what I need to do before our holiday to Center Parcs on Monday. Planted my cheats GC cabbages yesterday and might pot my leek seedlings on before I go. No sign of my carrot seedlings AGAIN. This is the second sowing...they just don't like me!
