Didn't get much done today in the garden. Decided i had to get the kids out so went ten pin bowling, then a sneaky pop in the garden centre on the way home. Picked up some tarragon  and oregano for herb patch which youngest helped to plant. A quick tend to the  greenhouse, watering,  checking etc, then catch up with house work  before going back to work tomorrow.

Raining again now, which is fab for the allotment and the garden. Glad we've had some rain,  won't have to water too much this week!

Need to get red onion sets in, planted cauliflower on Saturday. Got some lettuce ready to go in too.

Sweetcorn growing well in the GH along with cucumber,  toms, calabrese, squash,  pumpkin, leeks out in cold frame .

Great day for the garden/allotment  as good dose of rain overnight and this morning.  Now sun is shining and quite warm and muggy.

Diggingdoris, lovely photos. Above is photo of the bug box our daughter made for the garden.  For some reason photo won't rotate. Having difficulty downloading any pictures to this site today!

Depends what you want to do really.  You can pinch the tip out and allow more side shoots for a bushier plant and tie them in.  Or you can grow as corden by taking side shoots out and tie in the main stem for longer stem flowers.

Come to think of it, they could be.  Never really though about it until you suggested!  I had a patch of radish nearby, which bolted and then pretty much stayed there until I cleared the raised bed in January.  The stems are pretty woody.

Better get them out, I don't want to damage the other plants around them, there a lovely purple cerinthe growing under that lot.

Just got back from the allotment this morning.  Bit chilly, but a bit of hoeing and weeding soon warms me up.  Quick hoe around the onions and garlic, and then weeded around the raspberry canes.  Took a couple of pictures for reference.

Sowed some beetroot, and some spring onions (for some reason they never do well at allotment).  Checked my carrots which are coming up nicely, Sugar Snax and Nantes varieties.  First beetroot are coming on well and the radish too.

I have a small wildflower patch on my allotment. Not sure what the attached flower is, these have all seeded from last year. Any ideas?

Bloomin' pigeons!!!!

Bloomin pigeons have been at my leek seedlings.  I have them in a cool frame and since the weather so nice, I kept the lid open all day.  Just went to water and loads of them have been pulled out the compost and chucked about.  Think most are salvageable, grrrrr

Yes you can, they'll be okay. Plant some seeds now so you have a few to put in the ground later in the year too.
