Plant identification and care

Posted: 31/01/2017 at 09:11

Hi, i inherited this plant when my grandma went into a nursing home. It was among some others that I've managed to identify and are now thriving. I cannot find out what this one is and therefore how to care for it.

Can anyone help? is there any saving it?

Dovefromabove says:

They die down in the summer and start back into growth in the autumn/winter - I'd leave it to dry out now, then in Sept/Oct repot it and it should spring back into life

Have a look here - scroll down to the life-cycle bit

Good luck

When you say to dry it out now, do you mean not water it at all?

I aquired a cyclamen from my grand house along with a few other plants that had seen better days (she was taken into a nursing home so the plants had sat there for a few month with sporadic watering on a bright window sill.) I removed the dead leaves which I was then left with 3 leaves. I have been watering and feeding it (water in a tray - not from above) for a few months now and it still only has the original 3 leaves. What am I doing wrong? the other plants were worse off so I trimmed them right down and they are doing really well but the cyclamen just isn't.

Brown Aloe Vera

How quickly would the green come back if moved? It's on a west facing wonder but in a sport thats shaded by the porch roof. I thought that would help but it's not really improved much. Should I move it?

I aquired this aloe Vera plant from my grandma on 1st May. She fell ill in november and is now in a nursing home and this was just going to be binned. I have always wanted an aloe plant and have read up a bit on care. It was quite neglected since November and has been on a south facing window sill. It is now on a west facing window sill. My mum did water it a few times when she went to sort the flat out. I gave it a water when I got it home but have left it since.

Any ideas what I can do to help it get green and healthy again?

Oh that's a shame! we got it for our anniversary as we had calla lilies as our wedding flowers.

My son is due to leave his pre school at the end of August. I have planned to give his key leader a pot decorated by my son with planted bulbs inside so that every time they come out she can remember him. What flowers come out around August/sept time or what can be planted around that time?

I was given a Cala lily in June but it now seems to be going to mush at soil level. Am I doing something wrong when watering it? or does it just die off like this to come back next year?
