I must admit that I only have a few which have turned into seedlings. More Spring Onions than Onions. Same with my other half as well. It seems odd that the seedlings just dont seem to have grown anymore, just stayed static. Worth noting that they have been in a seed tray, in my little green house and they have been well watered. They are green and healthy looking, just not growing!!!

Silly question.... but will slug pellets work?

Onion help.

Hi there. This is a really silly question, but my onion and spring onion seedlings seem to have stopped growing. I have re potted them from a seed tray into bigger pots in the hope that this spurs them on.

Has anyone else had this?

Silly question but is there trails of slime? I have a Butternut Squash plant and mine is getting eaten too, but there is NOTHING to suggest caterpillars/slugs/snails. As a few of my plants have been being attacked to the point that there is nothing left (Broccoli, strawberries, and a few others too) all the same with no evidence what so ever of anything slug/snail related, I put out a plea on Facebook and someone suggested Pigeons. I do have a few pigeons in the local area as well as other birds as well, so my guess is that this is what is destorying my leaves. I have this weekend put up some netting but its too soon to tell if this is whats destroying my leaves.

Hopefully this helps, but this my first year growing stuff so I have no clue myself. x

Sycamore tree - why are they monsters?

Guess I feel a little bit silly that I thought I had some more Acers. I shall be making sure that I pull them all out and pop them in the bin. Thanks for the help and advice.

I shall see if I have more luck with the Veg growing, or if I should hang up my green fingered hat. x

Sycamore tree - why are they monsters?

Posted: 30/04/2012 at 20:27

Hi there,

Sorry, I seem to be posting a lot today. Following on from my Acer post earlier, Sycamore trees were mentioned. I have been doing some research and I have popped outside to have a closer look at my large Acer and it seems as if there is a very old and decaying 'wing' which looks like a Sycamore seed. Guessing this is from when I loved at my old address which I moved from at Christmas.

It is very concieveable that these are not Acer's from my large tree but Sycamore trees, and I was wondering why they are considered to be monsters, as suggested in my previous post, as I dont want to be growing monsters.

Thanks again and sorry for all the posts.

Thank you so much for your help. I might have to look at trying to build a make shift home for these guys, outside, but so they dont get wet.

Appreciate everything. Fingers crossed.
