Runner Beans Being Eaten

Try digging down and placing pots of pellets leaving an inch proud, then put a slate or stone over so nothing else can get to them.

Not sure what you mean. I have not sown the bean directly. It was put in the ground as a young plant.

Could you post a photo or drawing of your method?

This happened last year. I have put them in a different place this year and the same happens.

They are being eaten overnight with just the stems remaining.

I have tried plastic cloches/sharp sand/grit/egg shells &, pellets.

Are these SAS snails ?

Would growing under plastic sheeting help??

OK 73 Days have past and I dug up a plant today. They look marvelous. Slightly larger than an egg.

Just dug up 2 more plants!

Maybe they have advanced because I grew them under black plastic ??

Been in since April 1st. They now have flowers fully opened. Will they be ready for harvest?

To be honest, regards my problem I just can't see it being economically viable

spending £15 for a pack of nematodes just for one bush.

If, I dug the bush up and replanted elsewhere and covered with a net wouldn't this

do?

In 2011/12 the bush had no protection and wasn't attacked.

My problem is, that I cannot get to the allotment everyday. The damage shown was done in one day!

I have probably over panicked as, I have pulled all the fruit off even though it's still not ripe.

I thought if I'm not having it neither are them little bleeders!

I can do something with it I'm sure.
