Good evening all,

I have a dwarf cavandish that I normally keep in a pot in the garden during the summer and it has grown to about 75cm trunk height with several large leaves.

I am currently overwintering it in my unheated South facing living room but with it only gets the sun during the morning for about 4 hrs.

The edges of the leaves are starting to turn brown and crispy and I fear it wont make it through to summer.

What is causing this and what can I do to save it ?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Thank you.

Palm fonds going brown

I have a palm tree with the tips of the leaves going brown. I re-potted it about 3 months ago into a slightly larger pot and filled it with my usual palm mix of general compost and sand 50/50. This has always been ok with my other palms and they are thriving. I also feed it with palm fertilizer, once every couple of weeks and only use rain water. The centre of the fronds are all green and generally it is healthy but I feel it is a fine line between living and dying. Any help or advice is much appreciated.

Dear all,

I have a variety called CLOUDY DAYS. Would it still be ok to leave this outside under a fleece ? The flower spike is so tall.

Sorry to keep asking but I don't want to lose them as they were from my parents garden.

Thanks again.

I am in North Kent near Maidstone but my garden is mostly shade apart from a small section at the rear which catches some sun from 2pm til 5ish in the summer.

Thanks guys, fingers crossed they will survive indoors as my garden is not south facing (unfortunately). Thanks again.

I have 3 different varities of agapanthus including a very large version ALL in pots. How do I ensure they all survive the winter ? I don't have a greenhouse so at the moment I have them in my unheated dining room that only gets the sun for part of the morning. Any advice MUCH appreciated.
Thank you.
