Nettles can become a very useful garden inhabitant, for feed value, wildlife and much more.  It is a false rumour about nettles/compost heaps, if you remove roots and avoid composting old; seed bearing growth.  Provided your heap is well maintained,the heat generated will destroy the invasiveproperties feared traditionaly xx

  Water with a seaweed based solution, regularly, (on foliage too, when plants are of a good size).  How damp you keep your compost (well rotted manure is best) is down to personal taste required.

  Experiment with watering, for your sites conditions, to develop a method best for YOU xx

  Crocosmia only needs to be planted just below the soils surface, it will spread across the ground rapidly, with time, good luck.  This is a beautiful "cottage garden" type plant xx

 simply plant amongst other plant growth, of a similar height, to provide natural support.  Another method could be the use of wind debris/small branches amongst the growth , as a natural support of adiffering kind xx
