Dividing Bridal Wreath

Sorry, should have said proper name, yes it's spiraea.  Actually my neighbour cut his back, then chopped it in half, and it's thriving.  However, not sure I wanted to take the risk if it wasn't the correct thing to do - and kill the poor thing

Storing Garlic

Posted: 13/09/2014 at 09:59

Thanks to a friends (bad) advice I left my garlic in the ground too long and although I have a good harvest, they have all shed their protective papery covering.  How will this effect storing them please?  Also, some are sprouting, can I plant these out for next year?

Thank you for the advice. I was given to understand that it's quite difficult to grow your own from seed?

Dead Heading Agapanthus

After a stunning display this summer the flower heads have finished.  Should I remove them, and do I need to keep feeding the plants to ensure a good show next year?

Thank you so much for all your help, I think this site is absolutely brilliant for relatively inexperienced gardeners such as myself.

When do I divide Agapanthus

Been in the same pots for 4/5 years, and feel they're now being strangled as the roots go round and round, and out the bottom.  Having said that, the display has been phenomenal this year, so how do you make the decision?

I have two fantastic pots of Agapanthus, but they have been in the same pots for about 4 years now, and really look as if they are trying to escape through the bottom.  Is it time to divide them, and, if so, when do I do it?

Collecting seed from Cerinthe

I have grown Cerinthe from seed this year, but as there weren't many seeds in the packet I wondered if it would be worthwhile trying to collect them from my plants for next year?

Yes, Daintiness, we have the right soil, and I have all the shrubs you mention growing in abundance.  Lynn, thank you for the tip on pollination - I'm sure the children could afford 2!  How close would they need to be to each other though?
