2 plants for large pot

Posted: 11/04/2013 at 14:47

I aquired a large old terracotta pot this week (40 cm wide, 30 cm high - inside measurements). I would like to plant Agapanthus Loch Hope as it is pretty hardy with 2 Heucheras. Will this combination work as far as soil needs? I would mix grit, sharp sand and general compost with a lot of pebbles at the bottom. Any advice very welcome.

Hyper C F is right, it is very serious and you need to do proper research on it.

A wild life joke;

How do you tell a weasel from a stoat; a stoat is stoately different from a weasel - a weasel is weasaly distinguishable from a stoat.

Used Compost?

I just learnt today that vinegar works on the slugs, snails I just hurl into the back field. In fact I want to introduce a new sport for the Olympics 'Snail Hurling'

The compost heap needs to be turned every now and then, since it is a heap rather than a bin, I suggest using a garden fork. Then you can see what is going on inside it. In a week or so I am going on a course to become a 'compost master' so any info I get I will post.

stephani3; I'll say it again - your link doesn't work!

Plants beginning with 'C' hmm.. so many more than those beginning with 'B'

Carrots! I love growing them and I love even more defeating the carrot root fly.

Cauliflowers; I've grown them once but they were tiny, then the neighbour who gave me the seedlings told me (several months later) that they were designed to be tiny!

Courgettes, easy and fun to grow (I'm sensing a vegetable theme here)

Grew Cucumbers for the first time last year and was suprised to find them...well... odd; they were sort of warty on the skin, but I was told by younger and wiser people that that is how home grown cucumbers look.

Brassicas; I love cavolo nero, to look at and to eat. Buddleja globosa with it's yellow pom-poms is fun.

Indoor gardening? Do you do it?
