growing laurel hedge

Posted: 02/02/2013 at 09:46

My laurel hedge, that has been planted up about two years, is now about two feet high. Do I at some point need to perhaps trim them at the tops to make them thicken up, as they are slightly spindley, or do I just let them do there own thing .

They are growing adjacent to a large oak tree in partial shade.

When do you start feeding indoor houseplants. My spider plants look as though they could do with a little tonic. Can I start now?

What's the weather like in your area?

South Norfolk is beautifully sunny today, although we did have quite a hard air frost earlier. Its just great to see the sunshine!

Leaves are beckoning to be raked up and as Maud said earlier, a pile of ironing is calling me too!!

Hi there, can anyone advise whether it is best to leave grass a little longer in the winter months, or is it best to give it a good trim before the cold weather sets in. I only have a little push mower and it has beeen extremely wet these last few weeks in Norfolk, so I haven't been able to give it a good cut just lately, so it is quite long.Should I just leave it or try to get the mower on it for final cut.

Could someone please tell me wether it is best to put my compost bin on a concrete or paving slab base or to place it straight onto the soil. Any ideas please?

No, I am afraid I am miles away in Norfolk! Which is a shame, but thanks for the offer.

I know it is very late in the season, but could you tell me whether it is still possible to grow tomatoes from seed?

veg suggestion please!!

Please! Please! Can someone suggest a vegetable that I could plant in a sheltered sunny position, that the slugs will not eat! I am totally fed up with them after they devoured all my tomato and courgette plants, that I thought were suitably mature enough for them not to bother about!!
