when to get tomatoes in

Is it a good idea, to now get the green tomatoes off the outdoor plants, and ripen them indoors.

how would you suggest to store them. Would it be a good idea to take of the tops so they do not make the onions go rotten if they are damp.

Could someone tell me how long you have to hang onions , before eating them.

Thankyou' Bobthegardener'.

I think that is probably what I am going to do this year. I had thought that putting bark down would  be a good idea, but it was just good to hear it from someone else !

Many Thanks!!

lawn improvement

I have a small lawn that lays in partial shade of a large oak tree, so it doesn't get its full quota of sunshine ( When we get it!) . I feed it regularly in the growing season, but it always struggles to thicken up. Would it help if I added daisies and clover to it.

Has anyone any thoughts on this ,Thanks.

how to use nematodes efficiently

could someone explain to me, if I need to apply nematodes more than once, to make them keep the slugs down. You seem to be able to purchase them at 6 week intervals.Has anyone applied them just the once and had success.

My soil is very heavy and wet and yes, they are absolutely massive and there was alot of them last year, the like of which I have not seen before.. My parents soil is much lighter (they live a mile away at the top of the hill in our town, we live at the bottom in the Waveney valley) and they have hardly any.
