Raised veg beds - how to build?

If you had the posts at one side slightly higher so the polythene sloped would that allow the rain to run off rather than pool?

I had a pet rabbit do this to two of my clematis when they were young, they're the best in the garden now.

The mystery of pH.

Posted: 14/03/2014 at 14:42

I have always assumed my soil was acidic because I have a thriving Camelia and can't keep Dianthus alive, also we have removed about 5 huge conifers and I've heard they make the soil acidic. Last spring I did a soil test and it came out at 6.5, I was surprised and did the same test on a bag of ericaceous  compost which also came out as 6.5 does that mean the test was faulty? (or the compost) Can anyone recommend one that is reliable and doesn't cost the earth?

Beautiful photo's Lyn, lovely to see beds with so much colour, we had a big garden when we were kids and played all the time on the grass, My Dad was always pottering around but I never took much notice and took all the beautiful flowers for granted, wish I'd got interested sooner, he could have taught me so much but he's not well enough now. One year he grew sweet peas and I can remember spending ages just staring at them, they were the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.
