Thanks Dovefromabove, I will probably get something to get rid of them  for the only reason that the plants will be coming back indoors come autumn and i dont want the wee critters coming in alongside them

Hi Geoff, thanks very much, Ive just had a look at the link you gave me and that definitely looks like the little blighters. I wont worry about them too much, but i will get something put in there to deter them. I dont want to be making them too comfy .

Hi folks, Ive just got my greenhouse up and running and its all new to me. Ive noticed on a couple of my pots (mostly houseplants in there by the way) some little black flies walking on top of the soil. Very small dark coloured things with wings. Anyone any idea what they are, if they are likely to become a problem and if so how to get rid of them. Many thanks

Hi there, I hope you dont mind me butting in on your thread. Just to follow on from Kezza's post it was me that had got a peach from homebase and like her I stared at it every day for signs of life.....there was nothing. I took it back and they gave me one that was already in leaf and its okay, but to be honest if i was to buy another one i would probably go to a nursery and get a lot of advice re growing

I was looking at plants on ebay the other day and there was two pheasant berry plug plants went for 16 quid and then 3 quid postage on top!!.There was 12 bids. I couldnt believe what some people will pay. I did have one in the ground and it was a lovely big shrub but had mygarden re-done and it was removed. I do have one in a large pot now, and to be honest this is its first season so i dont really know how it will get on. I think the flowers are lovely and its quite an unusual looking plant

Ive just looked on google images under "night flowering cactus" and the first few pics that come up look like they are this plant, so you could get loads of info if they are. Other than that i cant help because i dont know anything about cacti.
