So you'd say actually chop it down??

Again not wanting to sound stupid but would I need council permission to do that?

I've heard trees can be protected and you can be on the receiving end of a hefty fine for removing one..

Hi all,

I have recently moved into a new house from a flat and have been confronted with a unweildy cherry tree in the back garden.

So my post is really to ask what, if anything, I should do about it? The branches are going everywhere and there are roots breaking through the lawn (see the pictures)... I've not mown the lawn yet, could a mower go over the roots or do I have to go round? As you can see I really don't know where to start so any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Owen
