Stipa tenuissima flopping

I follow the advice from Knoll Gardens: when they start to flop, cut them back by about a third. I have done this for the last few years and come August they are standing up again and looking good.

Best buy bulbs

I've bought bulbs from j Parkers for years - and have always been delighted with their size, quality and price. I know they get bad reviews but think thsee are always to do with their plants. I intend to buy quite a large number of bulbs this Autumn and have been doing some research: de Jaeger, Sarah Raven, Crocus. Yes, the sizes might be very slightly bigger but I haven't found anything to compare with j Parkers and will be buying from them again with total confidence.

Advice for my rose Falsataff please...

That's not grass! It's Dianthus Arctic Fire! It's been a colourful ground cover all Summer (kept away from the rose base but allowed to cool the two clematis. It's now finished flowering and I've sheared it back. It's now a nice fresh green mat of tiny leaves (and does look a bit like grass, I must admit! Lol

Thank you so much for your advice. It gave me the confidence to do something rather than just regret the situation and feel nothing could be done.... So today I have gently tied a few bits down towards the trellis, held my breath and (successfully) encouraged some bending back towards the framework - and removed the one totally vertical branch that really was spoiling the effect. Thanks for all your help.

I love my Falstaff rose - planted in 2013. It flowered abundantly in June and is now producing flowers (a bit rain-soaked unfortunately) again. But the three long, green vertical shoots are unexpected and unwanted! I thought I had created a good framework when I pruned in March, but these developed a lot later and were not at all "bendable". How should I deal with them? Did I do something wrong?

I think mine went down, not up. I never saw them ......I'm sure I sowed the seeds the right way up.

They look like sweet Williams to me. Mine are in a flower bed...they have been flowering since Spring. Last year I cut them right back when they finished flowering and they flowered again in late August! They are so easy to grow from a packet of seed. I do this in June/July and plant out in Autumn.

Where would you put them?

Thanks Dove. That makes a lot of sense. I have a long, four foot high trellis-type fence that faces West and I think I'll try them there. Will let you know how it goes.

the roses and clematis on my East-facing white brick wall are past their best (although hopefully some more blooms to come)..... But I have some well-developed black-eyed Suzie and am wondering whether it would be a good idea to plant them here - or should I put them to climb up the three roses I have in large containers?

Bulbs - is it my imagination?

Mid June - and daffodil leaves are still green (and sprawling over other soon-to-bloom favourites)...... I have been very patient up until now - but surely they're usually well over by now? Or am I getting forgetful?
