Where's Mike?

Posted: 18/07/2014 at 23:08

Hello Mike, Yes I am a motorcycle enthusiast, however, I dont have a Triumph or a BSA!  I have Honda! Love my bike almost as much as my garden, so its tough sorting out my time between them. This weather is not good for either hobbies though, its only been 28 deg C here in Yorkshire and I am wilting!  Just finished feeding my tomatoes and checking all ok before the storms hit, hope everyone gets through it ok without too much damage to gardens etc.,

Yes I am from Yorkshire, Pansyface thank you for the link it explains it really well.

There are so many folklore stories associated with hedgerow flowers, its understandable how as children we took them so litteraly!

I spoke to my Mum about them again this afternoon and she is convinced they are poisonous  no amount of explaining would change her mind! I suppose at 86 she is unlikely to be swayed  I owe my love of gardening to her, bless her.

Does anyone know if this is an edible plant or poisonous?  My mum always told me it was unsafe to pick as a child and I have carried on thinking this, as you do! Now I have been told it makes a lovely cordial!  I am a little confused as to its safety?

The same goes for a hedgerow plant she called mother die?  It looks very much like meadowsweet to me!

Anybody heard these things before? :-/

Thank you

I think the lard was still warm when I put the cake in to the feeder and the wind was blowing the smell around, he spent ages just sat on the wall sniffing at the air, it was so tantalizing he couldn't resist!

I found this young cat in my garden trying its very best to get to my homemade seed cake, I think it was attracted to the lard

Talkback: Ash tree dieback

I hope you are right about the mountain ash not being affected, I have three lovely young trees in my garden, the colour of the leaves has been glorious, burnished copper in the sunshine. There are many mountain ash trees growing in the woodlands around our area and they have looked lovely this autumn.
