Changing hydrangea????

Posted: 14/09/2012 at 14:33

We have a clay soil with natural springs running through the garden, one of these springs runs past the Hydrangea! This could have altered the acidity! Thanks for the photos they have helped, they do look similar to the one in my garden.

Unfortunately, I cant help Shoots44 with the lace cap and mop head problem.

Changing hydrangea????

I have a mystery with a hydrangea too!  I believe the acidity of the soil alters the colour of the flowers, however, the blue hydrangea in my garden that has been here for the last 10 years has pink flowers and blue on the same plant! This has happened for the last 2 years, any ideas anyone?

What's the weather like in your area?

Well its been a bit of a washout here in Halifax, it rained until 4.00pm, the sun came out and it was great!  Then at 5.00pm it started raining again!

Making plans for the garden for next year and planting bulbs for xmas, yes I did say that forbidden word xmas!

The new cold frames are brilliant, thanks to my son!

Gardeners' Question Time

Geoffrey Smith is the reason I got into gardening, I was absolutely enthralled by his enthusiasm and love of tiny alpines.  I was all of 15 years old when I fist saw this programme on TV. He was an inspiration to many people.

I also think gardeners question time is brilliant and funny. I like to listen to it in the shed!

The forcast for West Yorkshire is looking good for tomorrow and its my day off work!   This is a first for ages!

Going to take some box cuttings in the morning and my son is coming over to help build me some extra cold frames, so I am really looking forward to a lovely day in the garden.

Halifax, West Yorkshire.  Overcast, dull and a bit damp. Feels very much like an autumn damp day!!!

Cheered myself up though, my Thompson & Morgan plugs arrived so I have spent a pleasant morning in the shed.

The folding wheelbarrow sounds like a solution to my storage problems! May I ask where you found it? Thank you.

I think bird feeders and nesting boxes make wonderfull presents for gardeners, what about bug houses for ladybirds and moths! These would make a lovely change. :-)
