if you looking to monty or adam for advice you will be failure

the secret to growing tomato  getting an early start. planting  out under protection(cloche,wall o water or hoop house)  growing in raised beds,watering at ground level and good air circulation. And spraying for blight long before there is even a warning that it is the area(starting 2 weeks after transplant.

Welshonion and you would be wrong about comercall growers spraying tons of chemical and pesticides.

the reason commercial growers use the varieties they do is the varieties are hardy less desease prone and grow well in variety of weather condition. farmers need crop to be consistant since crop failure means they may lose there farm and grow broke.

what you need is ti run some drain lines under you turf so it does not pool like that. also the soil in you lawn is most clay and probably compacted.

beans usaully don't have a problem in same ground but brassica crops and allums do.
