Looks like Euphorbia griffithii and it is hardy but is also deciduous.

Why have my box plants turned orange?????

Wintersong means Bonemeal or Bone and Fish meal. You can buy tubs of this and spread it around the Box plants. It is a general feed for this time of year and will help.

I would try that and some grass feed (high Nitrogen) before removing any box. I also agree that it is not blight!.

Why have my box plants turned orange?????

I was going to say that it is normal in cold and windy winters but it normally turns back green in summer with lots of water and a feed. Did the Buxus stay orange all year long?

Help, I'm young and completely clueless.

I would remove the slabs to the left hand side, keeping the rest as it. That will give a good wide bed. I would add in lots of manure, compost, bark and the like and fork over the area to improve the soil. I would then think about what I want in their. I would say 60% evergreen plants and the rest a mix of spring-winter interest plants.

Take care where you put the mouse traps

I had mice in the garage during the freezing morass of 2010 winter but used a humane trap - they climb in but cannot get back out. Did not know you could even buy those old fashioned ones on springs that kill them.

I let the captured mice go a few miles from the house and they never came back.

levelling the garden

"As far as I can tell, there's a big gap in legislation for neighbouring terrace gardens - I'm allowed to (but haven't) make their garden unstable by digging right up to it, without even telling them, so long as it doesn't break the party wall rules for building's foundations."

Not right, if you have raised or lowered the level of your garden and that causes their or a shared fence to fail then you are liable for that to be replace entirely at your cost. The law does not just cover buildings but boundary features like fencing, walls, hedges etc.

Pronounciation

Posted: 24/03/2015 at 09:26

Latin names are very important as there are many plants with the same common name.

Latin pronunciation is different in different languages and within the English speaking world.

As long as you can understand what the words mean, then pronunciation is irrelevant:

Plant ID please

I did think Cordyline but was put off with the growth. I suppose as an immature plant it would look like that before forming a trunk.

hormone rooting powder /gel

Cuttings either take or do not. Rooting powder, in my opinion, for most plants, is a placebo.
