Security

you could always look at some security fencing options although unsightly, or other theft deterrants that could make the intruders invasion unpleasant. Getting a small CCTV camera that you can view on your PC is possible, but it wouldnt stop the vandalism.

To cover wood tip or not?

I think it would depend. If the ends of willow are anything like bamboo and have small shallow holes it is likely that the caps are put on to stop rain water sitting and creatures getting inside the wood and rotting it.

Raised Vegetable Beds

Hi,

I want to build some raised vegetable beds in my garden for growing a few basic fruit and veggies. Does anyone have any recomendations for what to build these from?

I have had a look at some that are sold by these companies:

http://www.webbsdirect.co.uk/

has anyone bought from these before and could recommend?

creating a Japanese garden.

Hi Beatrice,

Have a look at some of the stones from this website www.sleeper-supplies.co.uk.

If you are going for a japanese style, i would have thought white sand with a handful of large pebbles would suit better than stone.

have a look at these for inspiration on Zen gardens:

Wow! that is amazing.

Why is it the cat always wants to sit or lay in the plant pots? mine do it all the time, I planted some ornamental grass the other day and they both hopped up in the pot for a nap!

What's the weather like in your area?

It is either wet and horrible or scorching hot in the South of England. It is so interchangeable.

help

Hi Safla,

Wow what a project. I am sure that it is all very overwhelming, but like Auntie Betty and Bookertoo say, its best to start small. I assume you dont want there to be a stream in the garden?

Personally for me the 3 levels would make for a great feature. I would give each section a different theme, for example a rustic garden up top, modern in the middle and japenese at the end. I would make use of the stream and extend this to create your 3 gardens as islands giving you a nice serene water feature as well. Make bridges from railway sleepers to join the islands up.

If you are really struggling with this you could always take some photos and post them up. I am sure there is someone out there who can help.
