I'm a bit of a hoarder with them, but sometimes I give one to my son who's a dentist! In France but he says they are popular with his English patients.

My jeans are tight after being in the cupboard 1 1/2 weeks! Too many chocolates. Punkdoc, more bad news - alcohol is fattening! And I am the living proof after this Christmas period

Thank you Chicky.

Going shopping, dog food, tissues etc.

I think it's a bit soon to say that David, people have been busy with Christmas. And winter is less inspiring for photos, unless it snows.

Here is a photo that reminds me of summer, the long border at Waterperry. But I'm just a happy snapper!

Do you like clematis? I would put up some support wires (are you allowed?) and grow some up the fence.

Hardy geraniums are easy to grow, many varieties and some are OK with shadier places. I like the sound of shrubs, but not too big, and perennials for a softer look.

What perennials are ŷou currently obsessed about for next year?

2013 was the year of the Michaelmas daisy for me. Hadn't been tempted much before as you have to wait so long for them. Planted 7 varieties I hadn't got and it was worth the wait. Also planted 3 more pulmonarias that I bought in England, only had one before. Don't see them in the French GCs. They grow wild here so conditions should be OK.

Don't know what it will be for 2014, not much room left anyway.

Been feeling rather flat and tired today, perhaps aftermath of Christmas.

But have been planning holiday in June to Shropshire. Has anyone been to David Austin's rose garden? Can anyone recommend any gardens to visit between Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Leominster?

Sorry, Gardengirl, they were your bulbs. Senior moment, they were on the previous page. Was a bit worried about mine so dug about a bit with my fingers and found iris reticulata shoots half an inch underground. I expect snowdrops are coming up by now but didn't want to walk across the sodden lawn.

Mirabelle's are cherry plums. Mine had little yellow plums the size of Gardener's Delight tomatoes. They make good jam and can be used in pies, tarts and clafoutis, also can be eaten raw.

new border for boring garden

If finances run to it, I think that's a great idea from Bob. As well as raising the path it would look so much better. Straight concrete paths aren't very attractive.
