HELLO FORKERS!

Been feeling rather flat and tired today, perhaps aftermath of Christmas.

But have been planning holiday in June to Shropshire. Has anyone been to David Austin's rose garden? Can anyone recommend any gardens to visit between Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Leominster?

Sorry, Gardengirl, they were your bulbs. Senior moment, they were on the previous page. Was a bit worried about mine so dug about a bit with my fingers and found iris reticulata shoots half an inch underground. I expect snowdrops are coming up by now but didn't want to walk across the sodden lawn.

Mirabelle's are cherry plums. Mine had little yellow plums the size of Gardener's Delight tomatoes. They make good jam and can be used in pies, tarts and clafoutis, also can be eaten raw.

If finances run to it, I think that's a great idea from Bob. As well as raising the path it would look so much better. Straight concrete paths aren't very attractive.

Wow! to your bulbs, Dove. Nothing showing here, looked this morning in the rain, but shouldn't be long now - unless they've all rotted!

My dog's 11th birthday today, Border Collie. But no more treats left, he's already had the leftovers from the guinea fowl Christmas lunch and I haven't been shopping since.

I've put on about 3lbs over Christmas, but not New Year yet, diet on hold!

Planted Mirabelle yesterday which friend gave me. I'd re-potted it in the Spring thinking it was too small to go in the lawn and it's grown a lot and masses of roots, quite heavy.

That sounds like a fun walk KEF. What a coincidence.

Hope back is better soon, Clarington.

Hope your Pa is feeling brighter today Dove. What a worry on Christmas Day.

Good luck with your knee John. Everyone I know who's had a new knee says it's wonderful. No more arthritis.

We had a good day yesterday with friends coming to lunch and 1 to stay the night. In fact we had 2 Christmases as we'd celebrated on Sunday with my children and grandchildren. But I did feel sorry for those poor people at Gatwick Airport and those in the floods in Surrey, Sussex and Kent.

I was a nurse before I had my four children and I used to enjoy Christmas at the hospital (Westminster, the old one). We had a best decorated ward competition and the patients who were well enough used to join in. A lot of people were able to go home for Christmas so the wards weren't full, emergency only operations.

Happy Christmas

We had ours on Sunday with my 4 children and 6 grandchildren and we are having another today with friends coming to lunch.
