HELLO FORKERS!

At least I didn't use it, thinking it was cream!

HELLO FORKERS!

Talking of UFOs in the freezer. For some time I've been wondering what a bag of frozen white stuff was. From a recent phone call with daughter I've discovered it's a bag of breast milk for her son who is now nearly 3!

HELLO FORKERS!

I now have 121 emails, most from the forum - is that much less than everyone else?

Have planted onion sets red and ordinary onions and shallots. Have pricked out about 30 petunias.

Hugs from me too, Bill. xx

Favourite vegetable to grow?

GW magazine, March, have worked out how much you save by growing veg and they recommend the harder to buy ones or ones that are expensive. The only thing is they just give the price of the packet of seeds. What about the price of compost, fertiliser, slug prevention, fleece etc?

Beans

I have grown Hestia, which are a dwarf runner bean, good in pots, pretty flowers. Don't soak them. I started mine in the greenhouse in April, but you can sow outside in May. They aren't frost proof.

Mrs. Garden, I have some daffodils like that called "Rip van Winkle". I think you must mean Brunnera, not Brugmansia.

Cowslips are coming out in the wild bits.

Mike, I'm sorry about your wife. I lost my first husband 15 years ago to a heart attack. He was 53, I was 47. I expect your wife went into heart surgery feeling worried, but hopeful. It is harder for those left behind.

My tulips are nowhere near out yet. Daffodils in full swing and wild cowslips coming out everywhere.

Love your bright red tulips, Marion.

Growing Sweet Peas

Posted: 18/03/2014 at 10:42

Been very busy the last few days so not looked in here.

Thanks Steve for the tip about Aqualdulce Claudia. I haven't seen them here in France, just Aquadulce.

Tracey, when I said about cutting sweet peas off the hedge I was really answering David about the sweet peas getting tangled in the hedge. I thought the problem of that would be partly solved when the hedge was cut in the autumn the sweet peas would be cut down too - 2 birds with one stone!
