Haven't posted since this morning and there were 4 -5 pages to wade through!

Committee meeting overran by an hour so we were too late to lunch at the Wok place so guess where we went for lunch?  McDonalds! But I had a chicken wrap and salad. All the burgers had fake, plastic, floppy cheese in them.

What a nuisance about your car DD.

I don't enjoy the Tennant man, not my taste and I can't understand what he says. Looking forward to Wolf Hall.

Morning all. Going to committee meeting this morning, then lunch at Wok place then supermarket. Didn't go to supermarket last week, dog food, milk and bread flour are urgent.

Ouch Panda, take care.

I'm sure the teacher will understand DD. Is it the battery or something else?

What a lot of gorgeousness in that garden for January, Panda, must be stunning in the summer.

How sad about your brugmansia Mrs. G. Is it a goner?

Anyone done any gardening today?

Finished digging the hole for "Teasing Georgia". Quite a job as rocks had to be dug up and the underneath soil wasn't very good. Added lots of rotted manure. Planted the rose. It's to grow up a stone pillar. Then cut off the old leaves off the Hellebores and an Epimedium.

Never seen an earth star before, or even heard of one.

They hunt deer, wild boar, foxes, birds, but seem to have different days for different animals, nearly always Sundays, and limited numbers of some animals, like deer. Each village is allocated what they are allowed.

Are you gardening in France too?

I live in France too, but not the same situation. Dordogne, on a belt of limestone that runs through the middle of it from left to right. Means topsoil is thin, poor and alkaline. Last winter was very wet, but usually it's like England but colder. Summer gets into late 20s early 30s with rain sometimes and thunderstorms, but still have to water as it's not enough. I live here all year round so easier for me than for you.

It can be hard finding plants that like hot and dry in summer and cold and wet, even snow in winter. Sorry I can't be of much help, the hardest thing for you is that you aren't there enough for the plants. But some plants  do survive without much care here, aubretia, yellow allysum, iberis (the perennial one)

I'm amazed to see that you still have hebes in flower. I always lose them in winter, but it's been -8° here several times already. Rarely see gooseberries in France, or Rhubarb.

I think Flumpy and I must have the same taste in TV programmes!

How horrid for you Lesley, you must be more than slightly miffed. Better go and plant a tall thick hedge.

Dog walk is off. The woods around me are full of huntsmen with guns and dogs, it's making my dog nervous. A baying hound with a bell round it's neck passed in front of the garage.

Good morning all. Quiet day planned. Had coffee.

I don't buy them until about 6 weeks before I plant them (late March, early April) so that would be 2nd half of February.
