Ideas please...

Aster frikartii Monch or aster Little Carlow. They are late flowerers from August on. But my Monch needs a little support as it can be a bit floppy.

Very tall flowers, could you name them please.

I have tall yellow heleniums like that, but I've lost the label, bought them years ago.

NO LAWN after using Evergreen 4 in 1 lawn feed

But your gardener was right in the long run. If you want a grass lawn you had to kill the weeds first. If there were lots of weeds and hardly any grass then it is normal that it will look like a patch of soil. It needs to be seeded. So far only part of the treatment has been done. Do what Obelixx says and sow grass in September after loosening the surface with a rake. If your garden is small and your budget OK you could use turf, then you will have a green lawn straight away. It will have to be watered until it take root.

Morning all.

I think wind turbines are quite attractive. A lot better than pylons and nuclear power stations. We stopped the car in Norfolk recently to listen to some in a field by the road. They just sounded like the wind, may even have been the wind, it was a windy day.

I had lunch, gammon, runner beans, courgette, tomato (from garden) so I shall just have a glass of gazpacho tonight. No OH to cook for as he's in Norfolk.

Have been watering and dead heading. Meant to tie up some dahlias but it was hot outside, 30°. Did some housework instead this afternoon.

Oh dear Bob! How long will it be before you get tea? Maybe you need a gas ring. But no electricity means no Internet either, unless you have the right sort of phone but then that will need charging.

What a blue sky Chicky! I hope you've had a lovely holiday. I hope home isn't a let down. But I always like to get home after a holiday. I know what you mean about being "the invisible man", I've felt like that sometimes!

My Dad used to take that!

I've been up for a bit. OH has left to catch the plane for England, going to Norfolk for 6 days.

I've been deadheading dahlias, but I should not have worn my slippers, heavy dew. They are now sopping wet and covered in lawn mowings.

Hope you don't feel too bad with the lurgy, Pat.

I get golden syrup from a hypermarché, Super U. They've started selling mincemeat too, for mince pies. I used to get it on trips to England.

You obviously don't have blackbirds, Clary!

When you said smelly, Obelixx, I was imagining "gone off" - but that sounds yummy!

Lunch was bring and share so people had brought chicken, leek quiche, sausages and salads, then blackberry mousse, fruit cake, kiwi cheesecake and apple tart.

Just been watering the pots.
