HELLO FORKERS!

Posted: 26/02/2015 at 21:17

Evening all.

5 grandchildren are quite noisy, but 9 yr old not well, went to Doc, he has a nasty abscess on his tonsil that daughter's doc didn't notice.

We had Spag Bol this evening. Used up some of the garden tomato purée from freezer.

Been raining all day.

First house, first garden, new gardener!! help/advice needed!

I would have been here earlier, but was unwell

I'm another for getting rid of the tree, too big, will suck the life out of the soil. Will get bigger. A job for a professional, ask advice when you get quotes about leaving some of the trunk. I did that because I wanted to grow a wisteria up the trunk and train it to be a wisteria tree. But had to dig huge hole and add loads of manure and compost as soil was so impoverished, then the trunk rotted and had to be sawn off anyway and a support post banged in.

I'm with you on keeping the lawn though. Without the tree's shade and with a bit of feeding and weed removal I think the green will look nice.

Pruning the buddleia and the smoke bush is the right thing to do. Buddleias can be cut back very hard. The smoke bush will make redder bigger leaves.

Don't rush anything apart from the basics, there may be other things planted and your ideas may evolve. Buy a good gardening book and enjoy reading it.

Hello, popping in for evening catch up again.

2nd daughter and 3 small grandsons arrived after all. Smallest was sick in the car, thrust in bath on arrival. Oldest (9) looked awful, think he could have what I have, made appointment with local doc for tomorrow. Their doctor said he had a cold and wouldn't treat him, but he has a high temperature.

I have a friend with a bird clock like Dove's.

I've had notifications again, can't remember how long ago the previous one was.

This is a coldframe.

Pot them up using potting compost, water them, and put the pots in a sheltered place, as Cairnsie said. They are hardy.

Evening all. Just popping in before bedtime. It's been lovely reading your get well wishes. Think the antibiotics are starting to improve things, cough is heaps better and chest hardly hurts any more.

Daughter and 2 grandchildren arrived yesterday, but they wanted to leave me some peace for a sleep so they went and met other grandmother in local town. She lives in Bordeaux and it was 1 1/2 hours drive for her, which was good of her. They went out to lunch, she bought the children (5 and 3) some new clothes, and went to a playground.

Other daughter was coming tomorrow with 3 grandsons, but oldest (9) has a cold and his temperature has suddenly shot up.

Hello Everyone

Hello Tracey. I recently bought a heating mat to go on the greenhouse shelf. But I haven't started sowing yet so too soon to answer your question. Also waiting for OH to re-install the electricity cable to the GH, but we've been poorly so not done yet.

Morning all. I've showered and dressed, so the antibiotics have started doing their stuff. Still had alternate sweating and shivering in the night though. When I saw the doc, he said (in French) "Oh dear, you are in a bad way, I've never seen you ill before". I usually only go for HRT which he wants me to take to prevent osteoporosis because of horse riding.

Finally got to see the Doctor this evening. Had an appointment but still had to wait as he'd been called out for an emergency. He'd worked an 11 hour day. Anyway I have bronchitis and sinusitis as secondary infections from the original cold and OH has bronchitis. Now have a bag full of medicines, including antibiotics and corticosteroids.

Bekkie, I'm not a trooper after all. Had terrible night, couldn't breathe, shivered then sweated, joints ache, skin feels like I've been rubbed with sandpaper. Temperature this morning was 101.6. Lunch party cancelled. Cold seems to have turned into 'flu. Been in bed, just got up, but think I'll be back in bed shortly. Sorry to sound so depressing. Daughter and 2 grandchildren are coming tomorrow, daughter says they have just had 'flu and are immune.

Hello seil. That looks lovely. I wonder what time it is with you? I'm in France and it's 4.07am. Bunged up nose, can't sleep.
