Wilted seedlings! :(

Posted: 02/04/2015 at 19:28

The plants in the first picture look like maybe they have not had enough light and too much heat. What plants are they? Some plants grow better in cooler conditions like sweat peas for instance.

Anyone done any gardening today?

How much topsoil I should put in on chalk to grow turf

Posted: 23/03/2015 at 17:16

I know my parents dug up and area that was previously gravel and had hardcore in it and turfed it. They dug a little over a foot deep and the turf is doing ok there. However you going to need a lot of top soil for 50 square meters.

plastic greenhouse

Ok well that should be a lot better than a smaller one. As said it will be controling the temerature and condensation. My smaller one gets scorching hot during the day and back down to freezing overnight if its not opened up during the day. I put buckets of water in mine to weight it down and help retain a little heat overnight although im not sure it will be as effective in a much larger one. I think however your main problem will be securing it enough to not blow away. My smaller greenhouse even though was weighted down with very heavy tiles literally blew in half at the middle and the cover tore to bits. Despite trying all sorts of ways to tie and weight it down it has blown over at least twice each year in the last 2 years.

Do you mean one of the smaller types you can get from stores such as aldi poundstrecher, or a large greenhouse with plastic panels

How toxic is larkspur?

Posted: 08/03/2015 at 16:43

yeah i mean i actually have a delphinium magic fountain and the reports i have read are mixed and poisonings are rare as they plants don’t taste nice its just i would hate to think i have grown something toxic in the garden that caused him harm. I was not sure if the annuals were particularly toxic compared to the perenial variety. Of course we would always be watching him. I know foxgloves would not require much to be eaten to be lethal especially for a child hence why i got rid. Thanks for the reply.
