Turf and Trees

As for privacy I planted a lot of clematis around the fence but no trees the have covered the fence well and look better but to be honest it hasnt really increased the privacy.

No had already dug up the weeds I just turfed it after that. I regularly had the sprinkler on until the turf had established which is a pain when your on a water meter like me in a new build.

I rotavated mine with a hired rotavator as the soil was compacted due to the building of the house. My soil was full of bricks and paving slabs and allsorts too. I turfed it. It was the best option if not the cheapest and I have a good lawn now. The front was seeded by the house builder and is full of weeds and patchy. Im making it better but its not as good as the turf.

Clematis prob

I think the clematis is "the president" and exactly the same happened to mine. The leaves went black then the whole thing wilted when it was in flower. At the time I thought it was wilt and cut it to the ground. I however believe it may have been either slugs damaged the stems at base level or the window cleaner damaged it climbing over the fence as when I cut it down the stems at the base had their bark stripped away.

Mine has since recovered however I am sure other people will give better advice.

Help me stop my new lawn from going patchy and brown

It looks like a line of brown perhaps where a path has been previously. Its almost perfectly straight. Are you sure there is not concrete or something under the soil where a path has been causing soil depth and drainage problems.

Campanula flowers are dying off???

Posted: 29/04/2015 at 17:02

do you know what variety of campanula. It may just be that the plants have been in a warm greenhouse meaning they flowered early. When outside the frosts have probably just damaged the flowers. I grow several variety of campanulas and non are in flower yet,

Dianthus dying over winter? Please help :)

What species are they. One of my dianthus deltoids diet but think that was due to poor drainage. Some are only half hardy though.
