We'll I'm also a seedaholic! I confess and I want no therapy thanks, in fact I've just got my first allotment today and can't wait to buy even more! I have however just sown some Aubergine seeds which are 8 years old what's the chances? Slim to none of germination but couldn't resist trying! I'm also having anew greenhouse erected next week and as I've been without for 2 years I'm ridiculously excited!! I've got so far 3 types of toms, cucs, chillies and peppers! All in various stages of seedlings!!

Hi James,

I suggest you have a try with Gardeners Delight they are really sweet and small but the best thing is they will ripen outside so in your greenhouse they should be great! we moved house last year and it was the first year I was without a green house for about 15 years, however I'm now awaiting delivery of a lovely new 8x10 so looking forward to rejoining the green house brigade!!

Just a suggestion F1 all female cucumbers are good to grow also!!

Happy Gardening Carol

Planting an Olive tree?

Posted: 25/10/2013 at 14:25

Hubby and I have bought a lovely Olive tree (Europa) we are hoping to plant it this weekend (its about 9ft tall) we have tried to choose a sheltered sunny spot and Ive got some bonemeal to put in the hole before planting. I was just wondering if anyone had any further words of wisdome before we do the deed?

All suggestions greatfully welcomed!!

I was also planning on wrapping the folliage in Fleece before the frosts set in!

Will security lightning / street lighting upset my vegetable plot?

We moved in early May and seem to spend lots of time walking round garden centres and coming home empty handed!

Afraid of making expensive mistakes!

Well done,

Leylandii Cypressus?

Posted: 12/07/2013 at 13:14

Hi Guys,

I've recently planted a small row (5 in total) of golden leylandii, to screen an area in my garden, I dug good holes and as the ground seemed quite wet once planted Ive only watered them sporadically as I know they are tough plants, however they are turning brown around the botton speading from the central trunk out wards and progessing upwards. Is this because Ive not watered them enough?

I know lots of you would just say good let them die!!!

Thanks for any suggestions!

Cherry advice please?
