Thanks Jean - I'm following Jo's advice and having honey & lemon hot drinks now (somehow a tot of brandy crept in as well).

Glyn - don't go any further - we could lose you!!!

BJay here's the pattern (idea of size - a creme egg fits in the chick sideways)

Easter Chick - No. 10 Needles (3.25 mm)

Cast on 24 stitches and knit 2 rows

Increase 1 stitch at beginning of every row until 36 sts on needle

Knit a further 2 rows

Cast off 11 stitches at beginning of next 2 rows  (14 stitches left)

Knit 12 rows

Knit 2 together across the row.

Cut off wool leaving about 12 inches

Using darning needle draw wool through remaining 7 stitches.

With the remainder of wool sew the chick leaving space at the bottom to insert a cream egg.

Decorate chick with eyes and beak.

Flofrozen - sounds awful out there!  Haven't ventured outside for 2 days and it's not even bad weather here.

Afties all - cough, splutter .  Feeling better with regards to headaches/high temp/b.p. but chest still bad.  OH still applying the Vick

BJay - I had to laugh at mental image of scarey cat sneezing itself off sofa.  By the way, I don't have a knitting pattern for an egg cosy but I do have one for a little chick which can be "stuffed" or is the right size to "insert" creme egg (awaits schoolboy humour comments)

Here's one I made earlier (last year actually)

Jo - I was referring to Dr Geoff  and CPR Sue!   Great that your nurse home visits have finished too Jo

Do they sell industrial sized jars of Vick anywhere?
