Where are all the birds ?

Posted: 06/12/2012 at 15:12

Hi Lavender Lady - glad to hear your birds are back at last.  Blackbirds love chopped apple and have lately discovered how much they love pears that are past their best too.  Today I made mince pies and everything enjoyed the left over scraps of uncooked pastry I put out.

Afternoon Forkers.  Great news about Inka's friend - bet she doesn't realise that there are so many people here who don't know her who are wishing her well.

Becks & Jess - I think there must be some course all doctors' receptionists are sent on to turn them into dragons before they can deal with any patients - ours are just as bad.  Hope you & Jess can get some good medication to sort you out before her birthday and Christmas.  My guess for today is a necklace and some choccy coins.

Gary - if you kept chickens I wouldn't eat their eggs .

Artjack - my name is Caroline (Caz for short) but most of us regulars who drop in the Potting Shed/Fork Handles thread have assumed "seasonal names" for a laugh. Nadolig Carolau is Welsh for Christmas Carol.

Hi Geoff - guess I can put my rescue outfit back in the wardrobe now!

Some very pensive moments there

Like Alina, I generally leave mine alone and it has always done well - hope yours will too

Hi Frank & artjak - have always had potato and swede (boiled in the same pan) and then mashed together with some pepper and butter.  Here in South Wales it is known as Potch (haven't a clue why!)

Talking about Geoff .... where is he tonight?  Do we need to organise a Search & Rescue Mission?

Hi  artjak - Bara brith is Welsh for "speckled bread" and it is a lovely fruit loaf made with yeast.  Now all I need is to know more about these mincemeat tarts with frangipani toppping!  Sounds delicious but how do you make this topping pleae Frank?
