Gardeners' World hibernating

Alan & Rose - I quite agree and the best thing of all is that you have to stop and come in around 4 when it starts getting dark .

Busy day - done our weekly shopping (& mother's shopping) and tidied up outside so OH could pressure wash all surfaces that have become slippery and/or mossy.  Not many leaves left on trees now thank goodness. Made some vegetable soup before I went out so it only needs warming up when we get hungry.

Those pics you two  - Becks I must say that one reminded me of your description of your dad's birthday cake .

Looking forward to Strictly - no themes or strange make up.

Thanks for GW reminder Chris - here in Wales we've got rugby on BBC2 until 9 so its a good job we can get BBC2 England.  (We will get it here at 6.45 pm tomorrow so it will be on same time as Strictly and would probably forget to record it).

Bjay - does he want to make his own cheese sandwiches .

What's the weather like in your area?

Swansea - lovely and sunny (but a bit chilly in the shade).  Awoken at 5 this morning by thunder, lightning & hail.  We've had the lot today .

Hi Forkers & Hola Geofredo.  Lovely & sunny here today but at 5 a.m. we had thunder, lightening & a hail storm.

Jean - glad I'm not the only one who does crazy things to scare off sparrowhawks.  I know that it is part of the food chain but I'm not fattening up all my little garden birds for his benefit!  He can go elsewhere to do that sorry.

Jo - good to hear that progress is being made and at least you've been warm.  Becks - glad the cake was so well received - who wouldn't be pleased with all Jess' decorations.

Becks - take a pic and post it here as Mushroom of the Day  .

Congratulations everyone

I'm sure this thread could be adapted into a radio serial "The Forkers" - like a comedy version of The Archers.

Bjay - you can eat what you like now you are burning off all those calories with your pole dancing!

It's lovely and warm here now (sorry Jo!) - we were afraid to switch it off last night in case it wouldn't come back on this morning.

Secateurs.....bin them or sharpen them

Definitely sharpen them.  You can buy a sharpening steel and it just takes a few minutes - at least that's what my husband does when I hand him my blunt secateurs

I used to be terrified of Jacky Jumpers (don't know if that was their proper name or just what we called them).  They were a sort of zig zag shape and had several "bangs" in them and moved all over the place and someone would always throw one at you!

Forgot to say Geoff that the reason the central heating wasn't working was due to a faulty sensor (1 of 4 apparently) and the gasman actually had the right one in his van.  We couldn't believe our luck as we expected at the very least a part would have to be ordered.
