Jobird, we love the blackbirds but have always referred to the as "The Hooligans".  This tossing around of bark mulch whilst searching for food sounds like normal behaviour to me.  Got to say they've never dug bulbs up - the squirrel usually sees to that .

is it ok to feed birds ordinary suet rather the prepared bird suet you can buy

Don't starlings make an amazing range of sounds?  I love to listen to them go through their repertoire!  We had one that used to do a brilliant impression of a car alarm and also a "beeping" alarm clock.

What's the weather like in your area?

Swansea is windy, wet and very cold but at least no snow and none forecast.  Looks as if we all might be getting rid of it soon so "hang in there" as they say .

Afternoon all.  Wild, wet and windy (the weather that is, not me).  Can't wait for the warmer weather we've been promised!

Flo - they didn't literally mean break a leg you'd have had much more sympathy if you'd fallen somewhere out of the way and no-one had seen you.  Hope you are OK though and not to sore.

Like the new name Glyn - made me think of Honk Kong Phooey
