Afternoon all.  Its been sunny and mild here but some dark clouds on the way!

Chris - collared doves nest building here too and they are so fussy about selecting the perfect twig!  They are taking them from my garden and building nest in neighbour's conifer.

Love the look of that plant Jean.  Well worth a try if you like a challenge and if you could propagate it/collect seed you could make your fortune .

Is Geofredo up to no good again today ????

what do you think is the best make of bird food you have bought?

Posted: 13/01/2013 at 19:01

As well as buying bird food, I find it quite economical to supplement this with things like supermarket Value products such as oats, dried fruit and apples (especially ones past their sell by date!).  In very cold weather when there is lots of demand for food I soak oats and stale bread in cheap sunflower oil and make a sort of pastry with value lard and flour.  All the birds seem to love it

Do you know when Verdun?  I've never seen it before and lots of people on here recommend it.

Gone off the topic, but my New Years Resolution, is to sit and enjoy my garden more, not keep bobbing up and down when I'm having a coffee or tea, just enjoy. Don't think I'll manage it though.

Quite agree Chris!    Easier said than done though isn't it?

Aaw bless - big hug for my new friend Jess xxx

It was only a small back garden in a row of terraced houses in the centre of town but it seemed huge to me.  Dad used to love his snapdragons, pinks, hollyhocks and one rose bush.  I loved the garden gnome on a swing and the big plastic stork!

Don't let the dog sit too close to the fire BJay

Don't blackbirds like grapes

We had some little bunches of tiny grapes on our grape vine this year but they were a bit too sharp for our taste.  Put them out to see if anything would eat them and the blackbird quickly scoffed the lot!

Hello forkers - hope everyone is well today and settled in the warm for the night.  Will be sat by the fire watching Mr Selfridge later.

I am imagining Becks sitting on the floor amidst a huge pile of shredded paper.

and I can imagine Jess having fun with all the shreddings!

Talking about young and cute ... found this photo of me whilst going through box of Dad's old slides. OH has managed to scan them onto a disc for me (in work!).
