Hello Citygardener - are you Sasha - don't think we've met yet?  Inka is watching Downton in Canada and I think they are behing us with the series so I don't know if they have had our Christmas one yet.  Must admit I preferred last year's Christmas episode to this one.

I'm not going to do any ironing until next year

Downton is worth looking forward to Inka (don't worry - no spoilers here) and I would love to watch it again.   Good luck with the patches too  - we'll be checking up on you

Have you tried "begging" for a free or heavily discounted compost maker from your Local Authority?  Our local school (in Wales)  managed to get 2 free by getting the children to write a nice letter

Didn't brave going into Croydon but had a nice day out in Greenwich.  Went to the indoor market,  all around the naval buildings (new film of Les Miserables been filmed there recently) - the Painted Hall which was amazing and the Church. Had lunch in Gourmet Burger (never heard of them before but very nice).  Travelled there by train and Docklands Light Railway - bit disconcerting as there is no driver!

Why did you all start gardening?

I have read all your lovely stories and wish I had a good one to tell but, like Nutcutlet, it just sneaked up on me once we bought our own house and since then I haven't stopped.  The main thing that drives me on is to see how much wildlife I can provide for and encourage.  I don't try too hard to "tame nature" - just try to grow whatever is happiest there and "go with the flow".

Norm - it may take you a while to work out Geoff's thought processes but you'll soon get used to them

Afternoon all and nice to meet you Sam .

Had been wondering if your boiler had been whistling any good tunes lately Jo .

BJay - had an idea for your wheelbarrow - get one of those big blue IKEA bags to put inside it like giant bin liner (pity they aren't pink though)

Had this on facebook - nice idea if you can't keep a diary going past mid January:

Isn't it past your bedtime Geoff?  Or are you in bed with your Kindle?

I'm now, g'night all.

I saw your pink wheelbarrow BJay and am still suffering from wheelbarrow envy - didn't see anything like it in the garden centre this morning so bought a bird bath instead.

Hiya Forkers - I have returned from the Land of Free Carrier Bags - love going to England so I can stock up - they cost 5p here.  Had a lovely 2nd Christmas at son's and a nice day out in Greenwich on Sunday (in spite of the rain) and a visit to a lovely Garden Centre this morning.

Hope everyone is being good and eating the remains of their Christmas food.  Haven't got time to read the last 20 or so pages as I want to watch the Ripper programme at 9.  Have I missed anything vital?
