How sure can a customer be that herb/veg/edible flower plants sold by garden centres have not been sprayed with chemicals unsuitable for human consumption.

Verbena Officinalis Where Are You?

Thanks nutcutlet for very helpful information.  I will explore Melissa officinalis which I believe is also called lemon balm.

Verbena Officinalis Where Are You?

Posted: 03/05/2017 at 21:41

A friend recently returned to the UK after living in France for years queried why I was growing Lemon Verbena (Lippia Citriodora) when 'all of Europe prefers Vervain! It is bigger, better and lemonier!'  My trusty herb book implies that one equals the other.  However I have now shown my friend Aloysia Triphylla which she states is completely wrong as it is for drying and making tea.  Further research via the web has flagged up Verbena Officinalis but I cannot track down this plant.  Can anyone help with this please?

Raising and Lowering Heavy Hanging Baskets Safely

Can anyone recommend a gadget for raising and lowering heavy hanging baskets so that they can be maintained at a comfortable height?  They are currently hanging on sturdy metal brackets that are fixed robustly to a wall.

Potato Vine

Hi everyone who has replied.  Thank you for all the advice.  I am very wary of edible flowers and have definitely not seen these on any edible flower lists.  Just thought I would query it with the experts!

Are the flowers of the potato vine edible - ours are lilac?  I don't have the correct Latin name I am afraid.

Living Wall

I would like to try and achieve a living wall but growbags will be used during the building of the Permacrib wall and then they will no longer be accessible.  Plants will therefore need to be able to live on very little long term - just regular feeding and watering.  The obvious choice is sedums and there are a variety of these but I would be looking to vary the range.   Any suggestions gratefully received.
