Big sigh of happiness for end of working week here too.  And only one more week til GW is back on to make my Friday evenings really sparkle !  Has anyone heard when Beechgrove starts up again?

Doorbell kept going today, and each time it was a box of plants at the door.  So i will spend my weekend planting snowdrops, cyclamen, foxgloves, veronicastrum (verdun's fault, that one), and the irises that caused me such bother earlier in the week.  Plus OH has just announced that this weekend is GH relocation weekend.  Not sure if i dare go and read the thread about dismantling GH's - sometimes ignorance is bliss

Verdun, its so lovely here at the moment that i thought the forecast must have got it wrong - but the rotten stuff is obviously on its way over

Morning all - tgif .  Working from home today, so at least i cut out the commute.

Last night i SAW my first tawny owl (we hear them all the time, but i had never seen one before) - he flew in front of my car headlights and then sat on a branch at the side of the track.  We stopped the car (chicklet was with me) and watched for a minute before he went on his way again.  Really sweet - much smaller than i expected, but huge wingspan when he flew.  Made my day

Cosmos seedlings

Hi Bex - this has happened to me before with Cosmos - they go a bit wild!  So I now wait til March to sow, don't give them any heat (just a light windowsill) and prick them out, with quite a lot of the stem below the compost.

if you want to attempt to rescue the ones you have now, i would try planting them up individually, but you will need to plant them deeply to stop them keeling over.  And keep them off the heat

But we're with you every step of the way Clari  Did the pond get any attention this week, or was it all man-shed?
