Some sunshine here, but don't think it will last long.  Think my waterbutts should be nearly full again now.

I'd post a new thread LMS - there are a few tomato experts on the forum, but they're unlikely to look in on a sweetcorn thread.

Morning all. And good luck to Mr Yvie at the eye hospital.

Choc cake looks scrummy - hope a special day was had by all the Fairies

Botswana sounds exciting Pdoc - hope the hiking bit is away from big animals.

And hope LilyP's swallow found his way outside.  Once spent a night with a starling behind our wardrobe .....not much sleep was had, but he flew off happily the next morning looking none the worse for his ordeal.

got a full week at work this week - that'll be a shock to the system ....I'll be needing a day off by Tuesday.

best get started ......

I grew the Chelsea collection from Eagle this year- they have been fantastic.  Will be an Eagle devotee from now on....thank you David

I have a question though, my spring sown ones are now too tall for me to reach to pick.  Can I chop the tops of the plants off and get more flowers shooting lower down, or is it too late in the year for that sort of malarkey??

HELLO FORKERS!

Julie - yes, the cleomes look like fireworks - they seem to like quite a damp, but sunny, spot.  They certainly weren't happy on last year's dry sunny bank.  I found they do best sown really late - about April.  Have fun with yours next year.  Enjoy Eden.

DD - when the alternative is i****ng, then even a fun day will be fun

The Hewitt double isn't staked Beau - but there are three planted quite densely and they are in amongst some quite beefy phlox, so I think they get all the support they need from their neighbours.  If one was planted on its own it might need some help.
