Had asparagus, Emma, but nowt else yet.  Unless you count mint, chives, sage and rosemary.  But there are new flowers appearing every day, which is unbelievably exciting.   No wonder they say gardening is good for you - can't believe other people miss out on such an exuberant time of year

Oh yes - I remember jacks. Something about throwing the little ball in the air and then picking up the jacks before you catch the ball again .......hours of fun. You can tell I was raised in the days before Nintendo .....and still only 27 at that

Sadly, I would have expected them to be shooting by now ......I'd risk a little furtle by one of them to see what is happening

What would you plant here?

They are quite easy nice big hole, with the sides loosened with a fork, and maybe some blood fish and bone mixed in.  If you are going to plant it now, then the most important thing is to give it a bucket of water every week for this summer - after that it should look after itself

if you are going for ceonothus then Pugets Blue or Concha are both good strong dark blue forms

Howabout a ceonothus - evergreen, so will fill the gap, and spectacular with blue flowers in May

I love this thread

Love your foxgloves Jimmy  Wonky, I can't believe that is the same garden you were showing us last year - it has blossomed (literally).

Your garden is gorgeous Yvie - brings a huge smile to my face - and that clematis is spectacular.  And Fairy, evocative as ever

You should all be very proud, and thank you so much for sharing

Phew !  Thats all my summer pots planted. Doesn't take Monty all day to do his, but by the time I had collected all the ingredients, emptied said pots of tulips, faffed about a bit, squashed some asparagus beetles, faffed about a bit more was the end of the day already

And now the nightly watering ritual begins - i actually quite like doing it when I get home from work - sort of mindless and relaxing at the same time.

So pleased to hear that knee is s doing well Hosta .....we will be expecting highland jigs very soon...maybe obelixx can teach you a few steps
