Cheap seeds - again!

Posted: 19/11/2012 at 18:18

Hi Green Magpie

Many thanks for that. I'd given up growing outdoor tomatoes for the last 2 years because of blight and it breaks my heart to have to throw the plants away! I've read up on these and I am definitely going to give them a go. I'm in Hampshire and keeping my fingers crossed for a better summer than the last 2 years we have had!

Cheap seeds - again!

Just got back from Wyevales and they are selling T&M seeds at 10p a packet. Not a huge selection but I got some early ripening beefsteak tomatoes (Legend - never heard of this variety but I'll look it up) some melon, basil and lettuce. All sow by 2014.

I can't resist a bargain!

Ride on mower / mini tractor - help!

I think it depends on what he will be using it for! A mower is for mowing and a tractor not but it does have many other uses!  My OH has both lucky chap .

Caz/Rose - just come in myself for a nice cup of tea! After the last 2 weekends away I have spent an hour today bringing in most of the remaining tomatoes from he greenhouse, emptying pots and about 4 hours raking leaves. I have loved it!

Yakram - sound words. I pine for gardening programmes in winter.

Alan - if you really want to read old posts about Monty put 'Monty' in the search bar at the top and you'll get loads of hits. However, this forum is amazing on so many levels so please don't restrict yourself to Monty stories! Enjoy!

I agree with the above - mine got to 4 metres in its second year, Now after year three I have not yet moved it from my herb bed which but I must 'cos it's a bit of a monster. I do love it and so do the insects; I do chop it down partly to leave the flowers to grow and also get fresh you young  growth in the leaves for eating.
